In a diesel generator set, the fuel system is the core part of its efficient operation.
1. Fuel tank: the key to energy storage
As the starting point of the fuel system, the fuel tank’s volume determines the endurance of the generator set. In addition to having sufficient storage space, it must also ensure sealing to prevent diesel leakage from causing waste and safety issues. Moreover, according to different usage environments, the fuel tank material will be carefully selected, such as corrosion-resistant metal or high-strength engineering plastic. In mobile generator sets, the fuel tank design must also take into account the stability and safety of the vehicle during driving.
2. Fuel filter: guarantee of impurity filtration
Diesel flowing out of the fuel tank often contains impurities and water. The fuel filter plays a key role here. Its filtration accuracy ranges from a few microns to tens of microns. Filters of different levels filter in turn to ensure that the fuel entering the engine is clean. If the filter is clogged, it will cause the fuel supply to be blocked and affect the normal operation of the generator set. Therefore, regular replacement of the filter is a necessary link to ensure the efficient operation of the fuel system.
3. Fuel Pump: The “Heart” of Fuel Delivery
The oil pump plays a key role in delivering fuel in the fuel system. It generates suction through mechanical movement, sucks fuel from the fuel tank, and delivers it to the relevant parts of the engine at an appropriate pressure. The internal structure of the oil pump is precise, and its working principle involves the movement of components such as pistons or rotors. The stability of the fuel pressure delivered by the oil pump is crucial to the entire fuel system. It must ensure that a stable fuel flow can be provided to the engine under different working conditions, such as when the generator set is started, running steadily, or when the load changes. In addition, the oil pump can increase the fuel pressure to a certain level, so that the fuel can be better atomized after entering the engine combustion chamber and fully mixed with the air, thereby achieving efficient combustion.
4. Injector: The key to fuel injection
The last key component of the fuel system is the fuel injector. It sprays the high-pressure fuel sent by the high-pressure fuel pump into the engine combustion chamber in the form of mist. The nozzle diameter of the fuel injector is very small, usually tens of microns, to ensure that the fuel forms a uniform and fine oil mist and fully mixes with the air to achieve complete combustion. Different models of diesel generator sets will choose the appropriate fuel injector according to their own characteristics to achieve the best combustion effect.
During the operation of the diesel generator set, the various components of the fuel system work closely together. From the storage of the fuel tank, to the filtration of the fuel filter, to the delivery of the oil pump and the injection of the fuel injector, each link plays an indispensable role in the efficient operation of the generator set.
